The Ripple Effect: How One Act of Kindness Inspires Others

community goodness holy hospitality hurricane helene kindness wisdom tree wednesday Oct 09, 2024

I need to preface this blog post with some context: I was to be attending a spiritual retreat in Hendersonville, North Carolina last week.

Feeling overwhelmed by negativity? Here’s how one simple act can change everything.

When I think of goodness, I envision the simple acts that bring joy and hope to our lives.

Goodness is more than just a feeling; it shapes our actions and influences our communities.

When I think of goodness…

I think of those who donate to the Red Cross or other organizations who seek to lessen the suffering of others as much as they can.

I witness goodness…

I witness the first responders and those who risk their own lives to help others in perilous situations.

I witness goodness in those who pray for others in their time of need. Intercessory prayer is a gift of heart and time.

I witness goodness in the hearts and minds of those who care.

In natural disasters such as Hurricane Helene, I am reminded that goodness exists when neighbors care for neighbors and the nation comes together to support communities in need.

When fear, anxiety, or division is set aside to help a stranger, I witness goodness.

Goodness is a goal, a habit, a choice that we make each day we are given.

Choose goodness.

A small act of kindness for someone in need can negate negativity. It helps the giver and the receiver.  It reminds us both we are not alone in the world.

It can also start a ripple effect of goodness, where one simple gesture can create waves of positive change in a community. It can transform lives, uplift spirits, and foster connection among people.

Remember, your small act of goodness can lead to significant impacts on those around you. Let’s commit to spreading kindness and watch how it inspires others to join in. Start today and help create a better world for everyone.

There are many ways to help those affected in the path of Hurricane Helene. These are just a few ways:

You can help by making a financial donation by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or texting the word HELENE to 90999.
