Dream Big: How God Inspires Our Goals
Nov 13, 2024Kasey’s dream started with a desire, a simple wish that grew into something much bigger. God brought people in her life who believed in her dreams, offered friendship, support, and encouragement when she needed it most. Through this desire came the Wisdom Tree Collective.
Within three months of forming the non-profit organization, the first cohort formed, and the spiritual direction school began its first year. I was among the first cohort. Strangers became friends within a span of two years. One thing we all agree on is that when you go through the certification program, you are not the same person who started. You learn. You grow. You see God in new ways. You build relationships. You learn more about yourself. You heal and you expand. You change.
Religion shapes lives, guiding beliefs and actions in profound ways. However, questioning these beliefs can lead to deeper understanding. The spiritual direction program became a source of healing for me that I didn’t even know I needed. I learned to reevaluate all I thought I knew about religion—I’ve earned a master’s in religion, participated in four years in Education for Ministry course, and read the Bible multiple times—and I have uncovered new insights that reshaped and rehoned my views.
I’m learning to lean into the dichotomy of a God who is both known and unknown. God pursues us and desires to be known to us. God reveals His divinity and allows us to know Him/Her more and more. But it may be more comfortable to us to try to fit God in a simple box that we can understand and simplify. Yet, God is also mystery. God’s ways are beyond our ways.
I learned to become curious and pay attention to what I am resistant to and take time to lean into what delights me. I’m usually a searcher and a seeker, but I am reminded I’m loved just by being a child of God.
Recently, Wisdom Tree Collective gathered together for our second annual Chili and Chat Meetup. Mentors, alumni, staff, and students came to socialize and share their experiences at the collective. The Meetup was a great success, bringing together friends and community members for delicious food and meaningful conversations. Participants shared insights, built connections, and enjoyed a warm and inviting atmosphere. These moments remind us of the importance of community and collaboration.
Join us next time to be part of this wonderful gathering and continue building these valuable connections. Your voice matters, and together we can inspire change. It all begins with a God-given desire and courage to pursue our dreams.
