Easter with WTC: From Seed to Tree (the garden reborn)
Apr 20, 2025The Forest. The Grove. The Garden Reborn.
Reflection Point:
“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.”
— Howard Zinn
Scriptures:
“She thought he was the gardener.” (John 20:15)
“You will be like a watered garden, like a spring whose waters never run dry.” (Isaiah 58:11)
“If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
“See! I am making all things new.” (Revelation 21:5)
Wisdom from a Mystic:
“Glance at the sun. See the moon and the stars. Gaze at the beauty of earth’s greenings.
Now, think. What delight God gives to humankind with all these things!...
We are to work with it. For without it we cannot survive.”
— St. Hildegard of Bingen
The garden blooms again. Life has returned. Not as it was before, but as something entirely new—ripened through death, darkness, and deep waiting.
This is not the triumph of power or dominance, but the quiet uprising of love. It is compassion after cruelty. It is the sprouting of courage in soil once hardened by despair.
The stone has been rolled away. The tomb is empty. The world is green with resurrection. The resurrection is not only Christ’s—it is yours too.
Just as you have grown from seed to sprout, sapling to tree, now the whole grove bursts with renewal. You are not alone. The Garden is not solitary. This is a forest of new life, a grove of sacred community, a garden tended by the Divine Gardener who calls your name.
What has been restored in you? What holy becoming is rising from within?
Practice:
Create a prayer to the Sacred that celebrates resurrection in your life. Use light, water, or sound to honor this holy becoming. Let your prayer emerge from the garden of your soul—through word, movement, music, or breath.
Fasting:
What shadow of fear or doubt do you leave behind today? What tomb will you no longer return to?
Giving:
What radiant fruit can you now offer the world from your renewed spirit? What joy, what courage, what compassion wants to grow through you?
