Lent with WTC: From Seed to Tree (the sapling)

lent spiritual formation spiritual growth Mar 30, 2025

Reflection Point: “A tiny sapling can feed the world and a small hope can lead the lives.” —Ruthwik Reddy Sunketa

Scripture: “Jesus said: What is God's kingdom like? What story can I use to explain it? It is like what happens when a mustard seed is planted in the ground. It is the smallest seed in all the world. But once it is planted, it grows larger than any garden plant. It even puts out branches that are big enough for birds to nest in its shade.” (Mark 4:30-32)

Wisdom from a Mystic:

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -

That perches in the soul -

And sings the tune without the words -

And never stops - at all -

 —Emily Dickinson

What risk are you invited to take? How will you carry hope on this journey (or how will you let it carry you)?

Practice: Create a prayer to the Sacred about your sapling. It may be as simple as breathing in courage and hope.

Fasting: What fear is preventing your growth? What stories have you been telling yourself lately? How might you practice releasing them?

Giving: When we give — whether it’s time, resources, or emotional support — we strengthen our connections with others, which builds emotional resilience. Individuals who cultivate resilience through self-care, mindfulness, or support systems are often better equipped to give without burnout. How can you express your resilience?
